WHAT IS JCI?
JCI is a nonprofit organization of young active citizens age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society. JCI’s 100 year old history started in 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA and has since spread all over the world.
We develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions and take action. As globally minded young people, we all have rights, responsibilities and share goals. We find targeted solutions to local issues benefitting our communities, our world and our future. Embracing new ideas, collaboration and diversity, we have the passion and courage to address the critical challenges of our time.
There are over 200.000 JCI members all over the world, more than 5.000 local organizations in over 100 countries and we all share the same mission. As JCI members, we take initative to solve local challenges. Not just focus on charity or service, we are focused on sustainable impact locally and globally. It only takes one active citizen to change the world.
JCI IN FINLAND AND VAASA
Suomen nuorkauppakamarit Ry, JCI Finland, is a highly esteemed organization of young active people. There are over 70 local chapters in Finland. The country is divided geografically into four regions (A, B, C and D). JCI Vaasa is located in Region C that covers the coastal area from Kokkola in the north to Jyväskylä in the east and all the way to Rauma in the south. We organize different events and trainings, we visit companies in the area and arrange a variety of activities. We also meet up every second Friday for lunch. Read more information about upcoming events in our events’ calendar (at the moment only in Finnish). In addition to local happenings JCI Vaasa members can also attend most of the events organized regionally and nationally, and of course European and global events.
JCI Vaasa is a very international organization so speaking only little Finnish/Swedish or just English is no problem! A big part of the internal communication is in English and we have members from e.g. USA, France and India. Interested in joining?
